Princess Elizabeth's 1946 Druid Initiation Ceremony

Queen Elizabeth II was initiated as an Honorary Ovate Bard into the Welsh Mystic Circle Druid Order when she was a Princess, six years before her coronation. The ceremony took place on August 6, 1946 at the national Eisteddfod festival at Mountain Ash, Glamorgan, Wales.

This could simply be an 'honorary' type of thing, considering she was the Princess of Wales, or it could be something else entirely. There's nothing to suggest either positive or negative, it's simply strange. In many ways Druids share similarities with the Masons, with teachings, practices, rituals, and ceremonies rooted in sun worship. Which makes it even stranger when you also consider that on August 6, 2002, Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury, the head of the Church of England, was inducted as an 'honorary' druid into the Welsh Druid Gorsedd of Bards Order.
And then consider that in September 2010, England officially recognized Druidry as a religion, granting Druids the same status as mainstream religions.
