Seahawks Elevate Carson Tinker & Tanner Muse From Practice Squad, Place Alton Robinson On IR.

The Seahawks made a handful of roster moves ahead of Monday night’s opener against the Broncos.

The Seahawks made an expected move ahead of Monday night's game against the Denver Broncos, elevating long snapper Carson Tinker from the practice squad. He'll take over for regular long snapper Tyler Ott, who was ruled out for the game with a shoulder injury.

The Seahawks also elevated linebacker Tanner Muse from the practice squad, giving them extra inside linebacker depth as well as a player who will contribute on special teams. In the six games he played for the Seahawks last season, Muse was on the field for 65 percent of Seattle's special teams snaps.

Additionally, outside linebacker Alton Robinson was placed on injured reserve, meaning he will miss at least four games. Robinson injured his knee in Seattle's preseason finale and had already been ruled out for this game, with Carroll saying surgery could be necessary, though as of Saturday that had not yet been decided.

"We're talking about that now trying to determine what's necessary for him," Carroll said. "… He sprained his knee, and we're not quite sure if he's ready to work through it or if he needs some work on that. That's what we're trying to determine. It could go either way."

Tinker, who signed to Seattle's practice squad earlier this week, came into the league in 2013 as an undrafted free agent, and appeared in all 16 games for each of his first four seasons with Jacksonville before missing the 2017 season with a knee injury.

He appeared in five games for the Jaguars in 2018 before landing on injured reserve, and since then has spent time with the Giants, Buccaneers, Raiders, and Rams, appearing in nine games last season for Tampa Bay and Las Vegas. Tinker served as Jacksonville's special teams captain in 2016.

As Seahawks coach Pete Carroll noted on Saturday, Tinker has experience working with Seahawks kicker Jason Myers when the two were both in Jacksonville, and Carroll added of Tinker's week with the team, "He looked great. We didn't skip a beat."
