Included parts:
This setting has two versions for soloist with piano. The first, in the original key, is suitable for solo trumpet, cornet, flugelhorn, trombone, euphonium, or baritone. Additionally, this key includes optional parts for an accompanying ensemble of five brass players (in addition to the piano—not instead of the piano). The second is set in an alternate key and is most suitable for solo horn, bass trombone, and tuba. (This version does not include additional accompanying brass parts.) This second version is also playable by flugelhorn, cornet, trumpet, tenor trombone, euphonium, and baritone; but it should be noted that it is rather low in the range of these instruments. Performance Notes:
Early in Act III of Puccini’s ‘Turandot” appears one of the most famous arias in the entirety of the operatic repertoire. While always a popular recital piece, “Nessun Dorma” became much more widely popularized in the 1990s with performances by “The Three Tenors” (Pavarotti, Domingo, and Carreras). In the story, the “unknown prince” beholds the beautiful but emotionally cold Princess Turandot and falls instantly in love. The aria is a declaration of his assurance that he will, when the night ends, win the hand and the heart of the cold princess.
The marking at rehearsal 23 bears some explanation. Often, “interno” might indicate “off-stage.” And in this case, that might even be how it is staged, however, the indication here is just to underscore that the sound should be very quiet—sounding distant, as opposed to being distant.

[Original Italian:]
Calaf (the “principe ignoto”):
Nessun dorma! Nessun dorma! Tu pure, o Principessa,
nella tua fredda stanza,
guardi le stelle
che tremano d'amore, e di speranza!
Ma il mio mistero è chiuso in me; il nome mio nessun saprà!
No, No! Sulla tua bocca,
lo dirò quando la luce splenderà!
Ed il mio bacio scioglierà
il silenzio che ti fa mia!
Women's Chorus:
Il nome suo nessun saprà,
E noi dovrem, ahimè, morir, morir!
Calaf:
Dilegua, o notte!
Tramontate, stelle!
Tramontate, stelle!
