Exploring the Aleko Waterfalls and Dragalevtsi Monastery in the foothills of the Vitosha Mountain

Hello everyone!

In today's episode I want to invite you on a scenic walk to the Vitosha Mountain and specifically to the Aleko Waterfalls and the Dragalevtsi Monastery. I am also going to sneak peek at one of the oldest authentic restaurants in Sofia - "Vodenitsata" ("The Mill") and after this I will have an early dinner at a small restaurant in Dragalevtsi - it is called "Chichovtsi" or "The Uncles" (in English).

The walk through the natural park was more spectacular than the stop at the waterfalls. I made some breaks to immerse in the nature, to inhale the fresh forest air, admire the trees, plants, the mushrooms growing along the path.. and to come across some magical spots like this one right here … this small wooden bridge was the highlight of my trip.

The Dragalevtsi Monastery was built in the 14th century during the Second Bulgarian Kingdom and by the Bulgarian Tsar Ivan Alexander, then during the Ottoman rule it was abandoned and in the 15th century it revived again and turned into an important centre that kept copies of Bulgarian books and preserved the Bulgarian culture.
