Civil Unrest

In April 1861, America took up arms as war loomed in unsettling times. Fifteen-year-old Emma, the daughter of a Baptist preacher, watches over her younger brother, having lost their family in a tragic house fire months prior. Living on the outskirts of Washington County, Virginia, their loving church congregation makes the tough decision to hand them over to the nearest orphanage. Emma and David face their hardship together. However, a new set of challenges comes when a tall, soft-spoken middle-aged man named Michael stops by to take them home. When the inevitable conflict takes them to the war front, all three face the horrors that war brings inside the camp and on the battlefield. Their journey follows the 37th Virginia Volunteer Infantry Regiment.
