498 BC Battle of Ephesus

During the Ionian uprising in 498 BC, Persian and Greek soldiers engaged in combat at the Battle of Ephesus.

The Athenians and Eretrians were forced to break their alliance with the Ionians after the Persians routed the Greek army.

The Ionian Revolt was brought on by the Greek cities of Asia Minor's discontent with the despots Persia had installed as their rulers.
