Do Orchid Roots that repel water absorb anything at all, or do they just grow? Aerial roots on orchids are only aerial in cultivation. There is no such thing as an aerial root on an orchid. As an epiphyte, one would have to consider all orchid roots aerial roots. The term only arose because in many collection, orchids are potted up, so... any root that is not in the pot has been coined an aerial root. There are only Orchid Roots... no distinction because of where they grow.
