Why we sent our goat away // Garden Tour & Farm Visit @Sage and Stone Homestead
One of our Nigerian dwarf dairy goat crosses has been off the farm for a few months with her boyfriend at Sage and Stone Homestead and it’s time to go pick her up. Heather and Levi were kind enough to open their home to us for dinner and let us explore their beautiful garden before we brought our Juniper back to the homestead.

Juniper is a Nigerian dwarf X meat goat who was the first goat bred and born on our homestead. We don’t like to keep farm animals as “pets” as we think everything needs a purpose but Juniper is a bit of a unique circumstance – she has a great temperament, her dam (mother) had easy kiddings, and her sire (father) brings those great Nigerian dwarf dairy goat traits that we LOVE, so Juniper will probably hang around the farm for a long time.
It is part of the natural life cycle of a goat to be bred regularly and if this doesn’t happen a doe can actually develop health problems. It is for this reason we are choosing to breed Juniper. However her dad, Benji, is the only buck we have on the farm and because we do our best to practice responsible breeding in our herd we are sending her to our friends’ farm for breeding.
Heather, Levi, and family at Sage and Stone Homestead took great care of our girl while she was away but we are glad to have her back. We are expecting babies later this year! You won’t want to miss that so be sure you’re subscribed to the channel and follow along. See y’all soon!
