Pre-Algebra - The Distance, Speed, and Time Formula - Problem 2
Problem: (2) Dash and Fred are 50 kilometers away from each other. At the same time, they both start walking towards each other at a constant rate. Dash walks 3 kilometers every hour, while Fred walks 2 kilometers every hour. Dash, at the same time, has a dog. The dog can walk 5 kilometers per hour. This dog starts walking at the same time as Dash. Then, when he meets Fred, he turns around and starts towards Dash. Then, when he meets Dash, he turns around again to walk towards Fred. The dog keeps traveling this way until the two, Dash and Fred, meet each other. How many kilometers did the dog travel in all?
Key: Noticing that the dog starts and ends walking at the same time as both Dash and Fred.
