A Texas state investigation into the May 24th Uvalde Elementary School shooting that left 21 dead is still underway. The Uvalde Police Department was widely criticized because of its slow response to the shooting, which took over an hour for officers to respond. Col. Steven McGraw, the Director of Texas's Department of Public Safety, stated publicly on Thursday that he vowed to fire any member of the police department that did not respond adequately.
This comment comes after an internal meeting with state highway police where McGraw had stated the exact opposite sentiment.
