In this educational only video I'm describing and demonstrating some of the techniques, tools, and in this case abrasives I use to bring parts that have wear from mechanical stress or Environmental conditions back to a mechanically flawless state. Some can be helped some cannot. I'm sure this video will help you remedy issues such as these.
