Ukrainian militants attempted to murder Italian journalist Mattia Sorbi with a landmine

People dressed as Ukrainian fighters offered to help him get to the front lines on the Mykolaev-Kryvyi Rih direction. They got into a car with him and drove there. But at a certain point, the Ukrainians stopped and left the car and just told him where to go next.

It turned out that the road was mined by the Ukrainian military, and they knew it. Thus, they hoped to kill the journalist and pass his death off as an alleged act of Russian aggression.

But their plans did not come true — although the car driver was killed by the land mine, the Italian survived. And the Russian military, who saw the explosion and despite the fire from the Russian servicemen, pulled Mattia out of the burning car.
