08.28.22 "Hiding in the Spiritual/Religious Closet"

How willing are we to come out of the closet? Although traditionally that has meant to announce to key people in your life that you are an LGBTQ person, I have for a long time noticed there is another closet that many are still in, the spiritual or religious closet. I had a discussion with a new student this week who was very concerned how she pay for her classes, as she had to hide the fact that she was studying ACIM with us from her husband who would not approve. I wish I could say this was a rare experience, but it has happened several times in the recent past. I was recently listening to political commentator Dr. Sebastian Gorka say, "If you are not prepared to put your face and your name to those values, you do not represent those values.” Why is it easier for many to admit that they are gay or even transexual, than to say they belong to a church and are “religious?” This smells like an ego tactic to derail us from making true spiritual progress. "The ego can accept the idea that return is necessary because it can so easily make the idea seem so difficult." (OrEd.Tx.6.35) 30 min. SUBSCRIBE & SHARE
