On Tuesday, August 9, Russian forces did not attack Kharkiv. They did, however, continue to fire on other towns and villages in Kharkiv Oblast's districts of Kharkiv, Izium, and Chuhuiv.

While Kharkiv was spared, other towns and villages in Kharkiv Oblast were targeted by Russian forces on Tuesday, August 9.
The most severe damage was sustained in the Kharkiv district village of Tsyrkuny. On August 9, Russian forces opened fire on Tsyrkuny around the clock.
Several privately owned houses, outbuildings, and garages, as well as a grocery store, were damaged. Russian attacks caused 16 fires in the village, forcing rescuers to work in high gear.
According to the Oblast Centre for Emergency Medical Services, a 64-year-old woman was injured in Tsyrkuny and is in moderately serious condition.
According to Syniehubov, Russian forces are actively deploying tank guns, as well as tubed and rocket artillery, to fire on Ukrainian positions in the Kharkiv Oblast contact zone.
Furthermore, the Russians attempted to advance along the Veterynarne Udy axis but were met with Ukrainian fire, forcing them to retreat with losses. Fighting is currently taking place along the Bairak-Husarivka axis.
