Response from SLCPD about Homeless Murders / Housing in SLC
The SLCPD still won't reveal anything substantial about the Homeless Murders in Salt Lake City. They aren't exactly stonewalling, but they are refusing to divulge any information beyond the past two weeks in which time they tell us one body has been found. SLCPD tells Utah Stories we must conduct a GRAMA request for any more information in relation to the murders of homeless people that are occurring. According to two sources, the murders are exceeding four dozen souls. It appears that the lives of the homeless and those who are squeezed out of the housing market are in peril and the SLCPD made no comment about any ongoing investigations into finding the "serial killer" as one homeless single mother described.
We also get into the proposal to build a Gondola up Little Cotton Wood Canyon. Developers/politicians want tax payers to foot the bill on a $1-$2 billion proposal to erect thirty 130-foot poles to suspend a gondola to whisk skiers away to Snowbird and Alta. The only major problem is that each pole base will require yards of concrete and will need to be erected in the pristine watershed area with service road access, which will certainly destroy the habitat for wildlife and the nice trails for hikers and non-skiers. This proposal does not sound like an ideal solution to the canyon's traffic issues for anyone except the elites who are pushing the idea.
Housing in Salt Lake City may be a difficult area to rent or buy and we speak about Zoning laws and how our curreent zoning restrictions essentially create unaffordable housing. We also offer an option for anyone seeking affordable housing that is within 90 minutes of Salt Lake City, the answer might surprise you!
