Why All the Focus on Sex-Ed in K-5?

Ever watch or attend a Board of Ed/School Board meeting lately and notice how much time they devote to Sex-Ed standards, especially for K-05, and/or how much time in the curriculum is devoted to this topic in the first place?

Shouldn't the schools be obsessing over how to improve reading and math?
