Pokimane Answers an Uncomfortable Question on Stream!
YouTubers, Streamers, and other online celebrities are often faced with uncomfortable questions from their viewers. As a response to an unexpected query, you can either choose to answer or dodge it. Pokimane – the YouTuber, streamer and Twitch partner - recently found herself in the second situation when an off-camera viewer asked her something that many would consider invasive. The streamer was playing Apex Legends, while streaming on Twitch. In the middle of a game, she was thrown off by a random question from someone who seemed to be lurking in the shadows: “Are you Gay?” Let’s find out why this bizarre question came up during her live broadcast and what she had to say about it…
A Twitch Viewer Asks Pokimane if She’s Gay, Bisexual or Straight
For those who don’t know, the “Gay, Bi, Straight?” question has been a common one asked by Twitch viewers. It’s usually thrown at female streamers, although men are sometimes asked this question too. When asked, the Twitch viewer is usually hoping to know if the streamer has any sort of sexual orientation and if so, which one. Some Twitch viewers ask this question because they want to know if the streamer is single and if they can flirt with them. Other Twitch viewers asks the “Gay, Bi, Straight?” question because they want to know if the streamer is into other people or not. While Pokimane’s viewer didn’t specifically say why he asked the “Gay, Bi, Straight?” question, it’s likely that he wanted to know if she was into girls. Pokimane is a woman and when it comes to sexual preferences, women are widely assumed to be straight.
Pokimane’s Response to a Viewer’s Invasive Question
After Pokimane’s streamer was asked the “Gay, Bi, Straight?” question, she was taken aback and confused. The streamer hadn’t expected the question and so she was taken aback. Seeing this, the Twitch viewer immediately sensed that he had taken the question too far and went on to apologize. After hearing the viewer’s apology, Pokimane was quick to forgive him and ensured that no one was offended. She went on to explain that she’s not offended by the question, but rather confused as to why people would ever ask it in the first place. Pokimane’s response to the question is a perfect example of why many Twitch viewers ask this question. It’s not because they want to flirt with the streamer or want to know if they’re single. It’s because they want to know if the streamer is into other people or not.
Pokimane Answers an Uncomfortable Question on Stream
While Pokimane was quick to forgive the Twitch viewer who asked the “Gay, Bi, Straight?” question, she was also quick to shut down the question. The streamer made it clear that her sexual preferences are her own business and that she doesn’t owe anyone an answer as to why she’s into what she’s into. Pokimane’s response to the question was a perfect example of how Twitch viewers should react to this question. It’s invasive, uncomfortable, and inappropriate. Twitch viewers should never ask this question unless they’re prepared to deal with a simple “no.”
Why Many Twitch Viewers Ask if a Streamer is Gay
As we’ve seen, many Twitch viewers ask if a streamer is gay. While most Twitch viewers don’t mean any harm, they often ask this question without any consideration as to how it can make the streamer feel. After all, the viewers are just curious and want to know if that curiosity is shared. In general, Twitch viewers ask this question because they assume that women are straight. After all, men are often assumed to be gay, so why wouldn’t women be? This is a flawed line of logic that’s commonly used to explain why many Twitch viewers ask if a streamer is gay. When it comes to sexual preferences, women can just as easily prefer other women as men. However, society has taught us to assume women are straight and that’s why many Twitch viewers ask if a streamer is gay.
Final Words: Overall, the Twitch Community is Great
Overall, the Twitch community is great and it’s full of people who really love gaming. There’s a lot of streaming taking place on Twitch too. In fact, there are more than 2 million broadcasters streaming on Twitch right now with around 10,000 new channels being created each month. If you like gaming and enjoy the liveliness and personality of YouTubers and Twitch streamers, then you should consider streaming too. You can use a streaming software like Streamlabs to start your own stream and attract viewers to your channel. Remember, there’s nothing stopping you from joining in on the fun.
