ANOTHER STORY - "I Love You Because..."

What is there for Him to love? What is there in you and me to love? Why does He love us?

A professor came to a 1st day of summer class. It happened that the class was all ladies. She looked at them and asked this questions: “If a young man tells you that he loves you and you ask why, what would you want his response to be? What reason do you want to hear from him that will convince you he really loves you?

Sarah, who is always quick to raise her hand, replied, “He has to say that I’m thr only girl he find attractively beautiful.”

Everyone, of course, in the class laughed.

Another lady said, “I want to hear him say, ‘My world will cease to exist if you’re not around me.’”

I know you laugh. I was laughing also when I was reading this story and I said, “I think this is a nice story I want to share.”

The teacher turned to another lady, Cindy, and Cindy said, “I really haven’t given it a thought!”

So, the teacher said, “Okay! That’s your assignment. Tell us about it tomorrow: what you want to be loved for?”

She went home pondering about that question. On her way home, her boyfriend met her. It happened to be their 1st year love anniversary. He carrying a gift. When he presented his gift to her, she was surprised there were no flowers. He gave her a notebook.

She said, “What’s this for?”

She looked at the cover and read “All my reasons I love you.”

O, the doubt turned into happiness and joy because that was exactly what she was searching for!

She went home and looked from cover to cover and read all the reasons this boyfriend loves her. She was smiling as she was being impressed they were all good. But not a single one convinces her that the love is real.

So, she went bck to class the next morning and shared her story on what her boyfriend gave her and said, “I’m disappointed! I’m not really convinced that he loves me even though he listed a lot of reasons.”

So, the teacher proposed this and said, “What if he told you any of these four, would you be convinced he really loves you? I love you because…
1. You desperately need me. 2. You really need a makeover.
3. I really want to help you. 4. That’s just who I Am!

You laugh at these reasons because if a boy comes to you and tells you, “I love you because you desperately need me.”, you would say, “Who does he think he is?”

If I were a lady and a man comes to me he loves me because I need a makeover, I’ll dump that man right away.

Nobody will be impressed by any of these 4 reasons. 2 things about you and 2 things about the suitor he says why he loves you.

And yet, if you come to think of it, these 4 are exactly the reasons God loves us. The Bible doesn’t tell us that God said, “Yes, these are My reasons I love you.” But they are truths about you and me.

We desperately need Him.
We really need a makeover.
He really wants to help us.
That’s just who He is.
