Amid the trials of the Jewish people over the course of history, the Spanish & Portuguese Inquisitions stand as a time of horrific pain. In Spain, the Spanish Inquisition was a dominant, relentless force for more than 200 years, resulting in some 32,000 executions. This era of cruel persecution, caused many Jewish families to lose all connection to their culture and religion in an attempt to hide their Jewish origins. Their secret often lasted generations. In this episode, we discuss how, today, in this generation, many families of these “hidden Jews” are just now discovering their real roots and their heroic family history of Judaism.
