As last rays of sunlight slither from view,
think I back to times when we were one.
We walked hand in hand,
sang tunes of love in-key,
rarely off-key.
Melodic were days filled to brim with you!

Cold now our bed of love where your head lay.
Recall I warmth of your tender touch.
We slept side by side,
yielding tired bodies close,
kindred souls close.
Soothing were days when grim tasks seemed as play!

Love notes composed by you are hallowed ones.
Cherish I each sentiment of them.
You were my Dear Heart.
My most intimate friend,
forever friend.
Peaceful were days when comfort's yarn was spun!

Time now cajoles hide and seek with present,
moments shadowed by thoughts of days past.
Dusk embraces dawn.

Clock's pendulum strikes joy now ever lost.
Pained and sad am I as passion wanes.
