I don’t know the chain of custody of the video and I don’t know what it is. That said from the video alone there are some issues.
1. The “spere” on the 2d plane of the focal plane array is an 8 sided polygon ( octagon) and not a circle which suggests an artifact of the camera iris
2. The octagon gets thicker and thinner as the focus changes
3. While the central “cube” in the 2d FPA does appear cubish in 2d it is a square and a horseshoe and as the focus is tightened looks like an undersampled circle
4. From 1-3, this suggests the actual pattern on the FPA is a |Besinc(r)-circ(r)|^2 an Airy disk with a “d.c.stop” as it is often referred to in optics. The inverse Hankel transform of the “field part” inside the ||^2 suggests a plane wave illumination on a circular aperture or e^ikrphi times circ(bigger R) - a larger Besinc(bigger R). Note there are some coefficients missing in that r is radial spatial freq and bigger R is actual radius in aperture plane.
5. 1-4 tells us that the actual object was likely a point source a very very long way off so as to be a plane wave by the time it hit the circular aperture. That is the cause of the Besinc in the math. The hole could be either a phase correcting optic (hence the larger besinc in aperture plane) or actually a “dc stop” elsewhere in the optics.
6. This is analysis with no context. 1-5 is incorrect of course if multiple sensors saw the same type image. Did eyeballs see it this way? And what of trajectories or motion?
7. With no other data this can quickly be explained away as optical stuff in the camera.
8. So, the question is: is there other data?
I just kinda rushed through this and there are certainly some e to the i lamda stuff terms missing and such but this is the general physical optics of the video out of context.
As is always the problem we need more data on target from multiple sensors across multiple phenomenologies from multiple locations.
