Shortly after Liz Truss defeated Rishi Sunak to become the next UK Prime Minister, Prime Minister Modi took to twitter to congratulated his new British counterpart. PM Modi extended his good wishes to Truss for her new role and said India-UK strategic ties will be further strengthened under her regime. Truss has described bilateral ties with India has 'sweet spot' in global trade dynamics and has championed enhancing defence and security ties with India. She will succeed Boris Johnson as the next Prime Minister at a time when UK is facing cost of living crisis, recession and war in Europe.
