THRIFTING VINTAGE | RESELLER FINDS IN FLEA MARKET HAYSTACKS | ANTIQUING

I'm braving this Peddler's Mall to show you what a giant jumble of reseller booths gone wild looks like! Lexington Peddler's Mall is a huge indoor flea market, bigger than most of its midwest vendor mall brethren, and there's a ton to wade through on both the main floor and balcony levels.

Yet there's a feeling of foreboding here, enhanced by the seasonal presence of skeletons and jack-o-lanterns. Will we fulfill our quest for vintage values, or be lost in an avalanche of books, clothing and tchotchkes?

We wind up and down an old staircase in search of the antiques promised on the store sign, as vintage items leap out at us from the stacks of the random and the humdrum! Hot day-glo orange ware and a foxy Hawaiian sundress grab hold of our eyes and our minds, while the ghosts of extinct basketball teams and a movie starlet turned baseball announcer startle us on our journey. A bottle swallows a can and turns into a fish, a plate starts a marital squabble, and there's something involving a dog and a bottle of wine that defies understanding!

While it's truly scary and shocking to see how most of the vintage and antiques are priced, we do manage to get away with not only our lives, but a small, well-earned cluster of useful, fun, thrift priced antiques and vintage goods! We survive this pile...but we know there's more around the next turn...
