As the world is enjoying the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, the Chinese people’s passion for the cold is greater than ever. Even people in China’s warm southern regions, such as Chongqing, have started participating in ice-snow sports. Data from Chongqing Winter Sports Management Center shows that the number of people taking part in winter sports has increased from less than 10,000 in 2018 to 1.5 million in 2021. iChongqing’s reporter Cho invited Tozik Alena, an ice skating enthusiast from Belarus, and Bigirumwami Osée, a first-time skier from Rwanda, to experience the growing popularity of winter sports in the warm subtropical city Chongqing.
