Eight people lost their lives while climbing the Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano in Russia's far east, according to Interfax news agency. A group of 12 people, including two guides, had set out to climb a 4,754 metre volcano on Tuesday but some climbers fell from 4,200 metres, authorities said. Rescuers returned amid strong winds which prevented their helicopter from landing.
