Hermit crabs belong to the Crustacean group which has habitats in coastal areas including muddy, sandy, rocky areas and mangrove ecosystems. Land hermit crabs, also known as hermit crabs or hermit crabs, in English are called "terrestrial hermit crabs" because of the use of snail shells by young hermit crabs, but there are also other land hermit crabs that do not leave their snail shells as adults.

These animals, especially the genus Coenobita, which are still closely related, are usually called land hermit crabs. Land hermit crabs are one of the inhabitants of coastal ecosystems that have a role in the environment including, hermit crabs are omnivores, prey on small animals and are eaters of garbage or decaying material.
