2017 bmw 1200 GSA gas cap wont open, how I fixed mine.

My 2017 BMW 1200 GSA gas cap won't open due to an unknown issue, seems mechanical like the solenoid is not working or the mechanism is worn and sticking. I have tried lubricant with no luck. After finding out BMW wants over 400$ for just the part I took matters into my own hands and fixed it. saving me over 600$ after labor.
