If you have never experienced spiritual abuse, than maybe you have seen it. In fact most people in Christendom have been exposed to it. I have personally experienced it and observed the destruction on innocent lives. Lives of people who are new in the Lord, or those who are very simple and trying to know the Lord are the victims.

Spiritual abusers can be church leaders, a husband or wife. They can be a new person you have become friends with. Spiritual abuse is a form of emotional and psychological abuse and can have a deeply damaging impact on those who experience it.

Spiritual abuse occurs when a spiritual leader or a relationship abuses the power they have over you. Spiritual abusers take advantage of people rather than leading them as God intends. Spiritual abuse can cause you to question your faith. If it is in your home then it stands on the same ground as Domestic Violence.

The overriding connection among spiritual abusers is a desire for power and control. This may be overt or covert, depending on the abuser’s personality and goals. But it is always there in the background, and the abuser will use this desire for power and control to manipulate.

The outcome of spiritual abuse is destruction to those they have power over. It is nothing short of an evil slavery. Spiritual abusers are narcissistic broken people trying to exert damaging power over people they deem weak by using the word of God to crush them.

Never doubt the Lord who bought you with the price of His own Blood. Never allow anyone to question the word that you have hid in your heart. Jesus loves you, died for you and lives for you in order that you will have peace in your life and hope with joyful assurance. Not a life of being spiritually beaten down and abused.

“The people who influence us most are not those who buttonhole us and talk to us, but those who live their lives like the stars in heaven and the lilies in the field, perfectly simply and unaffectedly. Those are the lives that mould”

― Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest
