The US State Department has approved a potential $1.1 billion arms sale to Taiwan. The arms package includes $355 million for Harpoon air-to-sea missiles and $85 million for Sidewinder air-to-air missiles and aims to boost Taiwan's defence capabilities, the State Department said. China opposed the move and said the arms sale "severely jeopardises China-US relations" and it'll take countermeasures.
