Subjecting your dog to any new situation can be a tricky thing. It does not matter if it is getting onto a boat, bringing them on a plane, bringing them to a new location.....it can be stressful for the dog which in turn can cause them to be reactive. The best thing you can do for your dog is to take it slow when it comes to new situations. Get them used to the environment and let them figure things out on their own as much as possible. This was a perfect time for me to show you how I get my Cane Corso used to a new situation such as this one where he goes on his first boat ride. There are a lot of factors to consider here. The boat rocks and is not stable, the engine of the boat is loud, the water while boating has a different sound than normal, the engine creates a vibration on the floor the dog can feel....the list goes on and on.
