Russian EVA 54a mission to move European Robotic Arm
Russian cosmonauts Oleg Artemyev and Denis Matveev has been egress via the Poisk module to work on the European Robotic Arm (ERA). The spacewalk will complete unfinished tasks from the August 17th spacewalk.
Over six hours into September 2nd spacewalk, cosmonauts Oleg Artemyev and Denis Matveev extend the Strela cargo crane from the Zarya module toward the Poisk module. During the spacewalk the duo relocated the European robotic arm’s external control panel from one operating area to another and tested a rigidizing mechanism on the arm that will be used to facilitate the grasping of payloads.
