Chicago Bears News: Bears President Ted Phillips To Retire After 2022 NFL Season

In today’s Chicago Bears news, Bears President & CEO Ted Phillips has announced that he will retire at the end of the 2022 NFL Season. Phillips has been with the Bears organization since 1983 and became the team president in 1999. Phillips' main role over the years has been to oversee facility improvements including the current project of completing the purchase of the Arlington Park property as the Bears could be leaving Soldier Field for Arlington Heights soon. George McCaskey pointed to Phillips’ “steady hand” and “intelligence” to what made him a great asset for the Bears over the years. Chicago Bears CEO Ted Phillips decided after the Bears fired former GM & head coach Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy that there should be a restructuring in football operations. The team’s GM used to report directly to Phillips, but the change was to make Ryan Poles report directly to Bears’ Chairman George McCaskey. Phillips then focused more efforts on the Arlington Heights project as reports suggest that the Bears could announce a move to leave Soldier Field very soon.
