There are many different types of candy out there, and some are much worse than others. So what should you look for when buying candy? Well, first off, make sure that it doesn’t have any artificial ingredients. Artificial ingredients aren’t good for you, and they can cause problems like weight gain, acne, and even cancer. Also, look at the sugar content. Sugar is not only unhealthy, but it’s also extremely addictive. If you want to avoid getting addicted to sweets, then try to limit yourself to about 10 grams per day. And lastly, check the calories. You don’t need to eat a lot of candy, but if you do, make sure that you keep track of how many calories you consume.
2. Chocolate
Chocolate is delicious, and no doubt everyone loves chocolate. However, chocolate isn’t exactly great for you. In fact, it contains lots of fat, sugar, and caffeine. That being said, if you really want to enjoy chocolate, then make sure that you buy dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate. Dark chocolate has less sugar and fewer calories than milk chocolate. Milk chocolate does have its place though, and it’s perfect for dessert. Just make sure that you stay away from anything with added sugar.
3. Jelly Beans
Jelly beans are delicious, and they definitely deserve their spot on this list. Jelly beans are filled with sugar, and they’re also high in calories. That being said, jelly beans are still pretty tasty. So if you want to enjoy them, make sure that you eat just one or two at a time. Don’t go crazy eating them all at once.
4. Gum
Gum is a sticky substance that comes in many different flavors. Most people think that gum is healthy, but it’d be nice if you knew that it wasn’t. Gum is full of sugar, and it can also contain artificial colors and flavors. So if you want a healthier alternative, then stick to chewing real food.
5. Popcorn
Popcorn is delicious, and it’ll probably be one of your favorite snacks. Unfortunately, popcorn is also loaded with fat, salt, and carbs. So if you want popcorn without the junk, then make sure that it’s air popped. Air popping removes almost all of the oil and grease, leaving behind a fluffy snack that’s low in calories.
6. Ice Cream
Ice cream is delicious, and it deserves to be on this list. Ice cream is packed with fat, sugar, and calories. So if you want ice cream without the extra stuff, then make sure that your ice cream is non-fat. Non-fat ice cream tastes amazing, and it’d be a shame to ruin it with tons of extra fat.
7. Cookies
Cookies are delicious, and they’ve been around forever. But did you know cookies are actually bad for you? Cookies are full of sugar, flour, and butter. All of these things are bad for you, and they’ll give you a belly ache. So if you want cookies, make sure that they’re baked with whole wheat flour and oatmeal.
