Apartment Fire In Albuquerque 9/1/2002

We saw a plume of smoke all the way from Montano and I-25 so we turned down Carlisle and headed south towards it. I started filming when we got to Princeton and Garfield. The closer we got to the fire I realized it was in the area of both my mother in law and my daughter's school so we made sure their locations were both safe. Once we realized they were, we drove closer in to try to see what was going on and found this apartment complex was on fire. By the time we got there near the fire, the fire department already had the flames under control but you could see the neighboring apartments were still on fire. There was a fireman trying to give aid to a kitty cat and I'm not sure if the cat was ok or not by the time we left. I pray their cat was alright. I could tell the owner was really distraught. We would've stuck around longer to find out more info but we had to deliver that washer and get back right away before 2pm. So this happened around 1-1:30pm MST.

I heard later there were 5 apartments that caught fire and pretty much all the residents of that building are now displaced.

I'm not sure how we can help those that are now displaced.
