Beaverton Police pull man from burning car early morning

Beaverton Police pulled a man out of a burning car early Monday morning.

Police say that at 2:30 a.m., Beaverton Police and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a rollover crash near the intersection of SW Hocken Avenue and SW Jenkins Road.

When officers arrived, they found a vehicle on its side and engulfed in flames.

A Beaverton officer approached the car, broke the sunroof, and told the lone passenger to crawl out according to officials.

The passenger, identified as 34-year-old Johan Hermosillo of Beaverton, was not responsive so the officer went back to the car to pull him out.

Police say several small explosions kept pushing him back, however, he was able to pull Hermosillo to safety.

Hermosillo sustained non-life-threatening injuries because the officer was able to pull him to safety, police say.

Officials say they saw evidence of impairment which is believed to have contributed to the crash. Hermosillo was cited and released at the hospital for DUI and reckless driving.
