Kane still the main man

Tottenham could - and probably should - have had a hatful of goals in the first-half before they were caught with a late sucker punch. Unsurprisingly, Kane's introduction at the break turned out to be the spark needed to get Spurs going.

Only a few seconds had passed since the England captain entered the field before his whipped cross was deflected into the goal. Shortly after, he added Tottenham's third goal of the game. The thrilling preseason show was then highlighted by Kane's excellent free kick.

Although Spurs have improved their squad significantly over the summer, Kane is still very much the main man. Tottenham's chances of success this year will once again hinge heavily on the striker, who has already laid down a marker.

Conte whipping Spurs into shape

Conte's brutal preseason training approach has gained widespread attention recently, and the Italian's tough approach appears to be working. Tottenham looked fearsome at times driving forward in Conte's favored 3-4-3 style, despite some defensive concerns.

With a lot more from Spurs still to come and more additions anticipated, there's a good chance that Conte's brutal tactics will pay out in the end over the next few months. It would be unwise to bet against him since he wants Tottenham to compete for trophies rather than merely filling the stat sheet.
