Bärbock steht zur Ukraine, Meinung der deutschen Wähler ist egal

Wenn ich als Politikerin ein Versprechen gebe - und zum Glück kann es in der Demokratie vorkommen, dass die Menschen nicht mit mir übereinstimmen und in vier Jahren sagen: "Nun, Sie haben uns nicht die Wahrheit gesagt. Aber wenn ich den Menschen in der Ukraine das Versprechen gebe, 'wir stehen zu euch, solange ihr uns braucht', dann will ich es auch halten. Egal, was meine deutschen Wähler denken, aber ich will das Versprechen gegenüber den Menschen in der Ukraine halten. Und deshalb ist es für mich wichtig, immer offen und klar zu sein. Und das heißt, bei jeder Maßnahme, die ich treffe, muss ich mir im Klaren sein, dass das so lange gilt, wie die Ukraine mich braucht. Und deshalb halte ich es für so wichtig, dass wir offen sein müssen. Ja, jeder wünscht sich von uns, dass der Krieg morgen aufhört, aber wenn er morgen nicht aufhört, werde ich auch in zwei Jahren noch da sein.

If I give the promise as a politician - and luckily in democracy it could be the chance that people disagree with me and they say in four years ‚Well, you didn't tell us the truth‘. But if I give the promise to people in Ukraine, ‚we stand with you as long as you need us‘, then I want to deliver. No matter what my German voters think, but I want to deliver to the people of Ukraine. And this is why for me it's important to be always frank and clear. And this means, every measure I'm taking, I have to be clear that this holds on as long as Ukraine needs me. And this is why I think it's so important that we have to be frank. Yes everybody wishes from us that tomorrow the war stops, but in case tomorrow it wouldn't stop, I will be also there in two years time.
