Performance Notes:

For quite some time, this piece was misattributed to Henry Purcell, but it is now known to have been written by Jeremiah Clarke. It is perhaps the most popular wedding processional for trumpet, owing much to the grand wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana in 1981. Here it is set solo trumpet and optional 2nd trumpet with keyboard.
With regard to ornamentation, the trills should begin on the upper neighbor; and both trills and mordants should be kept within the beat in which they are written. Below are two examples of ornaments found in the Solo Trumpet part, and suggestions for their performance.
