Pain worst at night or first thing in the morning? Here is why! You will never guess the cause.

For many people their pain is worst at night or first thing in the morning. They don't know why and this is very scary. Partly because it seems to come out of the blue but also because it impedes the ability to sleep which makes life a lot harder.

Since the pain comes when the person is laying or at least at rest, this is very confusing and can allow the mind to wonder into thinking that the cause is something very bad. Please ease your mind. It is nothing to be scared about. Here is a rational explanation and some tips to prevent this from happening.

You have to learn a little about how muscle works and what happens when it strains. To keep it brief, lactic acid is the by-product of muscular contraction and every time a muscle contracts lactic forms. With a strained muscle, the inefficiency of the muscle makes it produce a lot of lactic acid when contracting. This can turn the PH of the blood very acidic and dangerous. So the body pushes blood to the area to get rid of the lactic acid.

The excess blood in the area is warm and prevents the strained muscle from shortening to its natural state arising from the strain. Since pain receptors run along the length of the muscle, the sustained length from the blood keeps the pain receptors from concentrating as they would due to shortening from the strain. This is why during activity severe pain is not experienced.

But at night when no activity is being performed, the muscle can now shorten due to the strain. The pain receptors that run along the muscle can concentrate and emit pain. This is why the most intense pain from a muscle strain typically occurs at night or when the person has a chance for sustained rest.

What to do? You can use a shower, bath, hydrocollators, hot packs, patches with menthol to keep the area warm before going to bed or resting. this will limit the chance of the muscle shortening to emit pain. If the heat, does limit or stop the pain, you have proven the cause is muscular and now go on to get the Yass Method to resolve the cause and achieve a pain-free fully functional lifestyle.
