Mobile Fidelity Scandal - Any Lessons to be Learned?

The industry has been buzzing about the recent Mobile Fidelity scandal where they either intentionally or unintentionally misled customers as to the analog/digital source of the master used to create albums they sold at exorbitant prices.

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Mobile Fidelity and who knows if they will survive the scandal. There are many youtubers chiming in with their thoughts, but I wanted to focus on the macro takeaways of this scandal because it's not the first (nor the last) time we see unscrupulous behavior in the hobby.
