A tomato spill makes a major California highway a marinara mess

Some California drivers got a saucy surprise in their Monday morning commute after a truck hit the center divider on Interstate 80 between San Francisco and Sacramento, Calif., slathering several lanes in quickly crushed tomatoes. NPR reported.

The crash occurred in Vacaville, California, according to a tweet from the California Highway Patrol. CNN reported.

The truck, which was driving in the westbound lane of Highway 80 near the Bay Area city of Vacaville on Monday morning, collided with other vehicles before crashing into the center median and knocking a large load of tomatoes on to the eastbound lanes, said Jason Tyhurst, a California highway patrol officer. The Guardian reported.
