Officially it is a civil war between the government forces of Mansur Hadi and the Shia "rebels" Houthi, but in reality it is a proxy war between Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United States and Iran for control of the Arabian Peninsula and the strategic Bab El Mandeb Strait. Unfortunately, the UN has described the war as one of the worst humanitarian catastrophes currently underway.
