On the German front in the spring of 1945, the war left its mark only of death and destruction. Alor was the only survivor of his unit. To ease his immediate fears, the American soldier began reminiscing about his life in New York. Born in the United States, the son of a German immigrant. He and his family have lived a bitter life of discrimination. The pain of childhood, the changes and accidents, the on-again, off-again relationships with family, friends and loved ones, seem insignificant in the big city of New York. Alere left home hoping for the future, but he could never have predicted that the war would change everything for him, and his past would become so intertwined.
