The Truth About....Biblical Theology. What is the Word of God? What is the Bible? Why is the Bible the Word of God? How was the Bible written?

What is a word? A container of thoughts. Thoughts come from the spirit within us. What is spirit? Spirit is the invisible, immaterial part of us that gives us consciousness and personal identity. Thoughts are packaged into words and distributed through sounds. Words must be heard and deciphered back into thoughts to communicate meaning. Everyone has a spirit. God is spirit. God communicates His thoughts directly, Spirit-to-spirit. When God speaks to individuals it is called revelation. When people speak what God has spoken to them, it is called prophecy. Prophecy is not primarily foretelling the future. Prophecy is speaking forth a message from God. Sometimes prophecy may contain prediction but not always. True prophecy is always a message from God and brings glory to God, not the prophet or human beings. Some prophets wrote down what God said. The Bible is the written record of God's revelation of Himself to humanity over generations.
