Green Apple Cake!

We have quite a few almost ripe/not quite perfect green apples on the Golden Delicious and Jonagold trees. I remembered an old recipe I copied out of my mom's 1968 Farm Journal Cooking for Company cookbook. Let's see...I was eight years old when it was printed!

You must have tart, crisp apples for this--turned out perfect. I peeled the apples and chopped them very fine. I see I wrote on the recipe that it works with pears or peaches (those would have to be fully ripe). Hmmmm.......
