This #YouTube #Shorts video gives you a glimpse of a current project on my Monoprice Joule 3D Printer, a 3D Printed Star Wars Lightsaber!

I have been enjoying making a lot of different models on my new Monoprice Joule 3D Printer, mostly focusing on video game accessories. When I was looking around Thingiverse recently, I discovered a model for a collapsable Lightsaber! I have always loved EP IV-VI, and went to the midnight premieres of all 3 prequel movies. My friend Chris had a toy Darth Vader lightsaber when we were kids, but I never had one of my own.

As I mentioned, I found the file on Thingiverse and it is printing on my Monoprice Joule printer as of this posting. I used Chuck Hellebuyck from Filament Friday's .28 Fast Cura Profile designed for the Ender 3V2 and modified it for the Joule. From here, I loaded up a spool of Hatchbox Black PLA and we were off to the races.

The print took about 5 hours to complete, and the outside of the hilt looked amazing. The retractable blade, however, didn't want to come out. I've tried cleaning out the segments with a Hobby Knife to help free it up, but I have not had any luck as of yet. I'll be printing another at a .20 resolution to see if that helps free things up. Stay tuned, more Lightsabers will be coming soon!
