Ron has a nightmare of finding his home abandoned and his tree-house struck by lightning. The next day he finds construction workers have cut down his tree, leaving behind a sinkhole. Later, Ron and Harry discover a mysterious geode buried beneath the surface. Ron cuts himself, accidentally, leaving behind traces of blood.

While Hermione’s parents are out of town, she throws a kegger party, where they all end up playing the levitation game, “light as a feather, stiff as a board.” The geode cracks open. That night, Harry has dreams of his dead mother, which turns into Ron’s dog, which has just died in his arms. The next day, Harry is convinced the hole is a gateway to Hell where evil gods dwell. He plays the record “The Dark Book” backwards (as was the satanic fashion at the time) for more hidden texts information.

A dead body in bed, Bible explodes, demons appear, human sacrifices are nigh, an eye grows from a hand. Rockets are launched, the old gods emerge, and the kids worry about how they are going to explain all of this to their parents.
