Chapter 8….Macedonia corresponds to the northern part of present-day Greece. Paul had established churches in the Macedonian cities of Philippi, Thessalonica, and Berea.
In 2 Corinthians 8:2–5 We see the Macedonians were a great example of giving because they gave (1) during affliction, (2) in spite of great poverty, (3) with great joy, (4) beyond their means, and (5) freely. In fact, (6) they pleaded for the privilege of sharing their wealth with other believers, and (7) they gave themselves to the Lord and to others. In 2 Corinthians 8:6 Titus had begun the collection when he was in Corinth we see this in 2 Corinthians 2:13; 7:6, 7, 13–15). Paul wanted him to complete it. He appeals to the Corinthians to give as he reminds then that they should abound in everything in the Lord.
