What I did here with Leather beans can also be done with okra. I only use the tiny okra that way, however. Packaged the way these are, if kept at a stable relatively low temperature, they’ll keep for a very long time. I use bacon for this always. When I was packing for the boat, I had a way to make a bacon confit that keeps for about the same amount of time as pemmican because all moisture and oxygen is removed.
