Finding Calcite Crystals In Western Colorado

Finding calcite crystals in Western Colorado at the famous Book Cliffs just North of Grand Junction. Maya and Mike set up camp then go explore the high altitude mountain desert region that sits at the base of the cliffs which is well known for calcite, barite and muscovite crystals. The Book Cliffs, where geologists first made the discoveries that led to the theory of tectonic plates, is loaded with geologic goodness, as well as a F*$% ton of prairie dogs.
